Guided tours of the K\u00f6lnisches Stadtmuseum<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

City.history.afresh: Eight questions. In the past, today and tomorrow: <\/strong>The Cologne Museum Service offers 60-minute public overview tours several times a week in nine different languages<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note: The guided tours take place every two weeks. You can find the exact dates in the events calendar<\/a>!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new museum venue is just a stone\u2019s throw from the two main pedestrian streets Hohe Stra\u00dfe and Schildergasse. It\u2019s also just a short walk to Cologne Cathedral. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MAKK \u2013 Museum f\u00fcr Angewandte Kunst \u2013 is also very close to our museum. Another nearby attraction is the Kolumba, the art museum of the archdiocese of Cologne which was designed by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor. Integrated into the museum is the impressive St. Kolumba chapel <\/em>\u2018Madonna in den Tr\u00fcmmern\u2019 (\u2018Madonna in the Ruins\u2019), an oasis of calm in the middle of a lively city centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Restaurant & Caf\u00e9s<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the museum\u2019s immediate vicinity there are many caf\u00e9s and restaurants inviting visitors to stop and spend some time. There\u2019s the popular Caf\u00e9 Espresso Perfetto, the well-known Italian restaurant Veltri Gastronomia and the vegan restaurant Sattgr\u00fcn.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Please be aware: during our move, use of the library will be extremely restricted. Please get in touch with our librarian Ms. Vanessa Schmitz regarding any questions you might have<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The library of the K\u00f6lnisches Stadtmuseum is a publicly accessible reference library that contains around 50,000 items.
The majority of these items are works on the history of Cologne as well as illustrated descriptions of trips along the Rhine. The library further possesses an extensive collection of old prints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Museum Flat in Cologne-H\u00f6henberg<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A journey back in time to the 1920s: the K\u00f6lnisches Stadtmuseum has partnered with GAG Immobilien AG to restore a 1920s flat in the Germaniasiedlung in Cologne-H\u00f6henberg to be an accurate replica of its historical self. It brings to life how people lived and what conditions they lived in a hundred years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Germaniasiedlung was built between 1919 and 1928 and today the majority of it is listed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Watchtower in Z\u00fcndorf<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When exactly the watchtower in Z\u00fcndorf was built is not known, but it is believed to have been in the second half of the 13th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum in the watchtower opened in June 1980. Since 1994 the Verein Z\u00fcndorfer Wehrturm e. V. has put on many diverse exhibitions there (www.zuendorfer-wehrturm.de<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
